Same Bottle. Fresh Refill.
8 October 2026

Your keys are on the kitchen bench, your bag is packed, and your water bottle is still beside the sink. Before you head out, give the refill a moment: this week, we’re looking beyond drinking more to the practical benefits of how you drink.
Know what’s behind the tap
An everyday refill has a less-visible process behind it. According to WA’s Department of Health, scheme drinking-water providers must establish monitoring programs that meet the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. For questions about your local supply, check your provider’s information rather than assuming every water source is the same.
Take the water, leave the extra packaging
WA’s WasteSorted says filling a reusable bottle with tap water reduces waste. The principle is straightforward: when a refill replaces a disposable bottle, there’s no new single-use container from that drink to discard. Put a bottle you already own beside your bag as a practical reminder—not another accessory to shop for.
Think before the recycling bin
WA’s Plan for Plastics prioritises avoiding single-use plastics and choosing reusable alternatives wherever possible. That’s an important distinction: recycling deals with packaging afterwards; reuse can avoid creating that packaging waste in the first place. Try making a glass or refillable bottle your starting point at home, at your desk or before heading out.
